THE BACKSTORY
we here at FIIK//BOOKS have been admiring amber's zines and collages for a while, and we were delighted when she said she was open to creating one with us this year! in the end, we decided to use the form of a möbius strip as the organizing principle for our design. given that a möbius strip doesn't have a clear start or end, we hoped that this form would encourage a repeated, endless, almost meditative reading. a lemniscated nod to the infinite. to the looping intimacy of k'é. to tsiiyéél. to memory, returning again and again. carried with us into the future.
THE ORIGIN
here are two photos of the first copy of to change and be the five fingers of her that came to the life on april 3, twntytwntyone, the second day of the inaugural asu zine fest where amber shared her poem//collage with the world for the first time. excited for the many more copies to come!
